Nothing second-hand about this auction…DirectBuy of Buffalo’s silent auction raises additional funds for Guilford Street Habitat for Humanity.

At DirectBuy, the leading members-only Club and home design center, members can buy products directly from the manufacturer, enabling them to save considerable amounts of money. On occasion, these items will have slight imperfections either in the make or damage caused during delivery. Many times, the manufacturer does not want those items back for the exchange. As a way to raise additional funds for the Guilford Street Habitat for Humanity in Buffalo, DirectBuy of Buffalo held a silent auction of 40 of those items—which included dressers, nightstands, headboards, Jacuzzi tub, a stainless steel French door refrigerator, a stove, light fixtures, etc.

“Usually when it comes to exchanges, you think of things that are pretty badly damaged or no longer functional. These items, with the exception of a few nicks, were as good as new. So, members who participated in the silent auction not only helped out an incredibly worthy cause like the Guilford Street Habitat, but got themselves an even better deal than they ordinarily do buying directly from the manufacturer,” said Mark Klinger, co-owner of DirectBuy of Buffalo.

DirectBuy of Buffalo is a sponsor of Guilford Street Habitat. In addition to contributing funds, DirectBuy has facilitated donations from its vendors for both materials and services. Members and staff of DirectBuy of Buffalo have also volunteered time for the Habitat project, slated to be completed this fall.
